Folks in their 30's and married, what do you prefer?
Own a house and invest in equity without burden of EMI
That's the dream
Hope it becomes reality
The people in social media who voted option 2 might already own a house or come from generational wealth.
But for folks who still haven’t bought a house yet, it makes sense to get one. It might not seem like a prudent decision, especially in a metro city, but buying a house shouldn’t be looked at as a pure investment decision.
People pretend to make a a lot of investment decisions logically but mostly it’s an emotional decision fuelled by FOMO or envy. So compared to investing a lot in equity or crypto, buying a house isn’t such a bad thing as an investment option either.
Having a house in hometown and retiring from the metro city at 40 is the goal
Social media is full of option 2. Those who voted option 1, can y’all explain your side of things too?
Renting thing works on supply and demand just like everything. If this ratio happens in real life. Option 1 will suck every penny of option 2. Option 2 has very limited options in that case. Also moving places frequently due to abrupt hike in rent is very cumbersome.
Optimise for peace of mind.
For some it comes from owning a home, for some it's about renting.
Personally I feel at ease renting with a networth that can easily afford buying a house without taking a loan.
I don't want to worry about how the water crisis will affect my property values or the latest shenanigans of the govt.
