Can not post this on LinkedIn

People call it being average, but it's basically a non-hurting way of saying, "Yup, you are good for nothing." Harsh, but this is the reality for most of us who are just living like NPCs.

Average marks, average job, and average social life. This is the most common personality demographic in the worldโ€”people donโ€™t remember us, have no major expectations from us, arenโ€™t jealous of our accomplishments, and donโ€™t find much value in our presence. Even if we leave tomorrow, people will forget our existence in a week.

I'm good for nothing. During exams, no one asks me for notes or prep but later complained I wrote too much in answer scripts. Pretty average LinkedIn engagementsโ€”though they are top-of-the-funnel content, they get around 35 engagements, whereas my mates just post about completing a certification, promoting a random college club, or talking about their work or how they spent their weekend, and they get 200+ likes. No one really remembers me during a crisis or feels my absence. I am just the average of all averages.

Itโ€™s better to be at the lower end of things than stuck in the middle. In the middle, you do most of the work, but seniors take away the credit. You pay the taxes, but the other ends enjoy the benefits. People barely consider your opinion, no matter how logical it is. Thereโ€™s no major respect in society, no admirers, and no one really cares about your highs and lowsโ€”not even your failures. At least if they cared about your failures, you might have been important. But that isnโ€™t the case. So, you lose out here too.

But why are we like this? Didn't we work when required? Didnโ€™t we deliver quality? We did bothโ€”but only at a threshold level or maybe 10โ€“15% more than that. Then we moved on to a different expedition, and thatโ€™s where we lost.

Just doing the threshold, the bare minimum, led us to being average. And why is it called average? Because the majority are doing it. Anything in abundance loses valueโ€”just like us.

But why are we only doing the bare minimum? No motivation or no self-expectations? Basically both. We always saw work as a task, with the perception that we just had to complete it at a benchmark level of quality. But high performers? They follow it to the core, try to learn as much as possible, and leave their signature on the work.

The problem with us? We know all this, yet we still donโ€™t act on itโ€”and then complain about being average.

I donโ€™t have a solution for this, and Iโ€™ll keep crying over the fact of being average.

I wouldn't call you average buddy. You write well, way better than average.

That's all it takes to become above average really. Even one skill/talent/hobby that you cultivate over time will push you to above average, maybe even greatness.

Becoming above average rarely happens on its own. It requires honing yourself and your skills, which average people never do.

Nothing wrong is being "average" mate. The world belongs to everyone! There is no blueprint on how to live. Accept and love yourself.

Rightly said. You really came up well to post this. I am not even near u if I say. Don't compare with others machi. I know ur statement is generic aiming to go higher. But am happy being average or below average as I learnt to appreciate wen someone does good and stopped being jealous of others

Infact to be honest, people are more open minded online with their opinions (either good or bad opinion), but in real time they either say something or does not engage a proper open conversation.

Being open minded and telling out this doesnt feel right, never helped me. People in motivational talks or experianced people tells us, be bold, speak up, but i did all these in my life for the truth and for the deserving but it left unheard. I just got one response "dont worry, chill. Take life easy ". Its not easy, thats what im telling.

I think you are just starting your career. There are ample examples of average people doing extraordinary things. Do not take linkedin engagement as a success metric. Remember one thing, all it takes is 3 months to turn your life around.

Yes but it doesn't gives us the importance. It's like saying employees run the business. They are replaceable same as the average people. Their are many like us

What is with this self pity? And who are you comparing yourself to? People who don't even acknowledge your existence are the very ones who you've given control over yourself? If you feel you can do more, do exactly that, instead of posting anonymously on social media. And life is spent in the average, you would be lucky to have spent your life among your loved ones in a relatively stable country doing what you love. That is what matters, so chill and go have some fun, enjoy your time.

My POV - there's no harm being average.
Everybody is just running the race. And when we join it, we start pushing ourselves harder. When we do not reach as others, it feels disappointing. Maybe we can try again, and fail again. There will be a day when we will succeed, but the point is it takes a lot of effort- mentally and physically to be there and keep proving ourselves again and again to stay at that spot. So being average saves us from that pressure. Less stressed life, less expectations from others and ourselves and enjoy being at the place where we currently are. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Why do you care what people think of you. Be like Kareena kapoor- โ€œMe apna favourite hoonโ€. Buddy there is only 1 life we get! Our scores and our jobs do not define you. Think why were you born? What you want to do with this life. Once you know your purpose, work on that and keep yourself happy because no one else will do it for you. Again, remember- โ€œOne Life!โ€

Idk why she is posting this, but whenever I open LinkedIn, I find a similar post like this. I don't blame any LinkedIn User because I am one, but why do people post shit like this when they want to say something, or they did do validation.
