Wow, good to come across the first SE-related post on this platform. I believe SE/SA/Presales is a great career path for the long term, irrespective of geography, since it requires one to be inherently techno-commercial, rather than being a hardcore techy or sales guy. From what I've experienced, the nature of SE varies depending on what you're trying to sell, be it physical/digital product or service. But I must add that there are plenty of transferable skills to build once you spend time in this role.
Have you checked out presalescollective.com? Lots to learn in their private Slack group once you sign-up on their website. Being in that group, I've seen people coming from tech as well as non-tech backgrounds into SE role. If you're someone who enjoys solving customer problems using technology, who likes being updated on latest development in your line-of-work, or someone who like guiding/explaining/advising your peers & customers, you'd find SE roles right up in your alley.
I think you've got a good start in your current role.
Some US/EU-based Product firms do build out offshore SE teams, these could be in your radar for career change in future as well.
Do check out this post to get some perspective on the growth paths from your current role
