Offer Letter Ask

Hi Everyone,

Happy Sunday!

I have one HR discussion in the pipeline. I have a doubt if HR asks me to share my offer letter from another organisation while salary negotiation, do I need to share the entire offer letter or can I just share the salary breakout?

Technically you have no obligation to prove your current salary before joining any organisation, after joining they can do verification.

After joining? They check offer letter?

No. They can verify you worked in xyz company where you were working as xyz position for this date to that date. That's it. Never disclose current salary, this is bad culture propagated by Indian HR and used as tactics to negotiate in bad faith. Your offer leter is not a public document which any one can ask to share in pretext of offering you job, hold your ground and tell clearly that salary document is personal and confidential data between employees and employer and new employer has no business here.

Offer letter is confidential. You should not share it with anyone without the companies permission.

So can I share a salary breakout page only without displaying an organisation name?

You can't share the offer letter to the company where you are currently working. But it your are sharing an offer from one pipeline company to other then its okay

It's not about current, I am asking about a new one. While going for the counter offer.

How do they verify it
