I think the problem isn’t with the apps. It’s how a person uses those apps.
I utilize Zepto once a month for buying all my groceries(it’s a planned one, only groceries and not veggies or fruits) - Reason - I don’t have to visit the grocery store and carry that much weight or spend time doing the grocery shopping plus I get a good amount of discount on grocery compared to my local supermarket. For veggies and fruits, and other perishable items, we utilize going to the local vegetables & fruits shop and buy it fresh in the morning every 2-3 days.
We seldom buy clothes and other unnecessary wants from apps.
Zomato and Swiggy is installed, but we use it very less(maybe once or twice a month). We prefer cooking during the weekend, and have a cook(only for breakfast). We cook our lunch and dinner.
I am married(so the dating apps doesn’t apply). Met my wife through Shaadi.com. Did courtship of 3 years before we got married. It’s been 8 years since we got married.
Got laid off in 2023, and it was a blessing in disguise. I spent lot of time with my son. Helped me with mental health as well as physical health(he’s quite a runner).
My evenings are booked only for family.
Thankfully, my current startup doesn’t force me to work on weekends or unnecessary over-time. Probably because both founders are married with their own family lives and more than 2 decades of experience(giving them a good planning strategy and human experience expertise). It’s been almost a year working with them together, and it feels like an extended family. The founder had been there through our tough times when I lost my father in law(took a month break). No questions asked or no pestering and asking about work. Really relived. Huge salary cut for me, but I am happy with the mental peace which I have.
I do have to use social media but mostly for monitoring our pages and engagement.
Financial literacy is a must. And it comes only with experience. I remember spending a hell lot early in my career with credit card debts but by the age of 25, had got the financial knowledge(through credit card traps).
Thankfully during my early years in career, didn’t have those so called finfluencers. Had to do my own research which was tedious but was very very helpful for me to plan.
