Torn between a family trip and work. What should I be doing?
My cousins are visiting us from the US, and we are planning a trip to Japan for 8 days. I joined a new company just a few weeks ago, and it will be around 2 months into my employment on the day of the trip. I am being assigned tasks slowly, so I'm not sure what to do, whether to go on the family trip or stay alone at home and go to work while the rest of my family members enjoy the trip.

Hmm Totally get your dilemma
If you can ask for the leave by next week, that would be great. See, I've changed jobs every 1.5-2 years for multiple times, and I've realized this guilt will forever stop us.
Sometimes we have to grow balls and just take the time off. I know it feels too soon, but if you're nice, and your manager is understanding, it will work out
Go for the trip, work could be done later . Life is worth living for and not just work. If manager comes in between, tell him you would work longer later but please grant me the leaves .
Go for trip
I was in a similar situation - had joined 3 months ago. Took the leave - if anyone objects then say that it was booked before you joined.
