Pure corporate greed is also a reason. Freshworks did layoffs recently with their best profit year. And after layoffs, their shares have only soared

Corporate greed. Companies have realised that people are a resource. People can be hired to build a product then fired and replaced by a cheaper workforce or a skeleton crew just to maintain the service. There are no repercussions anymore. Everyone is replaceable.
