You already make more than marketing guys graduating from IIMs make so you don't need an MBA

What about higher leadership positions, a lot of my known people have told me that you won’t get Csuite without an MBA.

You are 25 bruh you ain't getting C level in next 10 years unless you start something of your own. You can still do an executive MBA 10 years down the line

No need for an MBA for you since you anyway don't like to study or learn during academic sessions it seems..with the CTC you have, just focus on the job induced learning and maybe a couple of good switches... should be good enough...

It's nothing like that at all. If at all you want to pursue an MBA, go abroad where you crack an ivy league MBA. That's all :)

I see marketing folks were feeling left out from all the tech-bro brags!

25 yrs.. 5 yrs of experience
How is this possible ?
Are u counting internship as experience?
Or have u studied bcom or bsc?
In any case mba has a long term benefit … u will hit the glass ceiling sooner than u realise. Better go for it.. India or USA.. wherever u can crack

SqueakyBagel
SqueakyBagel

Yup i am counting on the internship bit as well excluding that it would be 4.3 Yoe, i did my bcom.

I have that fear of reaching the ceiling, post that mba does makes sense, will see and try wherever i can crack!

You dont need an mba. At 25 you have 5 work ex. That is really impressive. At all, if you want to do an mba, dont do it from india. Go abroad you will be paid higher plus more perks. In india even after 2 years of mba you will be paid similar to what you are getting paid now. that doesn't make sense.

SqueakyBagel

This is something i have been considering, i had a word with a lot of IIM folks they also had similar thing to say, Global companies don’t care about your degree until and unless you are going to an old school conglomerate.

2 year mba from IIMs - doesn't make sense Pgpx - depends on your objective. (MBA from good college increases your brand, have good network issue

IIMs are far away from me cause of my lack of interest in reading study mat :(

ISB might help you. They have exec and full time. You can choose between both. You have got good pay, so unless you want shift your line of work it might not make sense. Looks like you are confident and a hustler.

No offense but it's people like you that actually don't need an MBA. Unless, you feel that you're already inflated for the market and can't justify the price you're at for the job you're doing, I don't see the need to go and do an MBA at all

Logical, Fortunately I have made my base super strong that gives me edge over others, irrespective, thank you for sharing your thoughts πŸ™

Try to understand why would you want to do MBA. Talk to a few folks who have done MBA from good colleges and understand what have they learnt during MBA. Then when your why is pretty clear, you will have an answer.

SqueakyBagel

I have an answer, its just for the check mark to get shortlisted for senior roles, but the pain is time and money :(

Try to move to leadership positions rather than calling yourself growth marketer by 30. Growth is key driver of any business but unless you position yourself smarter people might pigeonhole in marketing department. So, I think ISB or any other 1 year MBA worth a shot.

SqueakyBagel

++ I want to be in that league by 30, putting in more efforts to be good as an IC and at the same time pushing for more managerial role to be more heavy on the leadership side.
