Has Ola completely given up? Are there actual PMs who work there?

Lately Ola's founder Bhavish has been discontinuing their dependencies on foreign products ranging from their own cloud servers to their own GPT's which people are specualting is just a wrapper over ChatGPT and lately launched their own Ola Maps which is itself a wrapper over OpenStreetMap. Will this benefit Indian Companies to compete with the global ones or will it just die down eventually. Ola folks can shed some light on it. 😁

With all these EVs catching fire and Ola not being able to turn a profit, Im curious to know if it really is a solid company or just an investor-money marketing hype? I mean most of the folks I know open Ola LAST, if Uber/Rapido/Blusmart haven’t worked. Ola E is also facing a lot of flak because its EVs are seeing the highest number of incidents. They’ve also had a string of CXOs come and go. Are Ola + Ola E good companies? Like I’m curious to know what you guys generally think, even from a job perspective. (PS, for the sake of transparency, I’m a journalist [you can drop me any scoops/leads at [email protected]] but this question has nothing to do with work — i’m seriously, genuinely curious about Ola and Ola Electric and Bhavish Aggarwal. Very few Ola folks speak about the internal goings on at the company)

This guy gets a lot of shit on linkedin, don’t know him personally so not sure if rightly so or not. People in Ola, how’s this whole make tech in india thing working out?

Damn, let me tell you how Ola has messed up the auto rickshaw industry! They came in acting all fancy, promising convenience and fair prices. But what do we get? Overcharging like crazy! Their surge pricing during peak hours is a complete rip-off. They take advantage of our desperation and squeeze every penny out of us. And who suffers the most? The hardworking folks who rely on auto rickshaws every day. But it doesn't stop there. Ola's profiteering tactics have destroyed the earning potential of auto rickshaw drivers. They used to have control over their fares and make a decent living. Now, Ola dictates the prices and leaves the drivers scraping for scraps. It's just not fair! They've disrupted the whole system, and not in a good way. The drivers are struggling, and we passengers are getting ripped off left and right. Ola, you've turned a once reliable and affordable mode of transportation into a nightmare. Shame on you!

Uber designers (or PMs) why are you trying to get rid of the ride search cancel button? Found a ride faster and cheaper ride on Namma Yatri but can't cancel until Uber decides it's ok to do so! Won't be surprised if this leads to accidental bookings and shifting the onus on the rider to pay a "cancellation" fee. Why chase vanity metrics at the expense of the user experience? Switchers gonna switch.

I got an offer from Ola Electric for a Senior Engineering role in Backend dev. Pay is good and team looks interesting too. But I am very apprehensive about their culture. Their glassdoor reviews are horrible and the recent interview in YS Bhavish gave was cringe max. I am a hard working guy, will do solid 8-10hrs 5 days a week. But it looks like that won’t be enough. One might be made to work late nights and weekends routinely from what I heard. And Bhavish saying he doesn’t believe in weekends has made me a lot more anxious. My current company is going through financial troubles. I will definitely have to move. I will get some other role though if I wait for a few weeks. Could someone working at Ola or with recent experience advise me here.

I am being interviewed by Ola right now. I want to know from Ola folks or non Ola folks who know people working in ola regarding work culture (I heard it's shitty). Salary expectations (I have experience of 8 years). Perks, benefits, growth etc.
