Need guidance on my career path

I've done my Btech in EC from NIT. Worked for 2Y as a dev in IT Services co. Then I did my MBA from one of the old IIMs. Got placed as a "Consultant" in one IT services co, where JD said the role is client facing and business centric. Have been working here for close to 2Y. Basically I'm part of an Agile project team, as another Dev/QA resource. I basically do QA for project releases and occasional SQL scripting. Tried internally to switch to a Project/BA role but this experience is hindering me. Outside it's even worse as I don't even get shortlisted. I believe I have good skills to excel in Product/BA/Project roles. But not getting them as I don't have any prior experience. My confidence is very low now and my career seems to go nowhere. The pay is also worse, 21.6LPA currently ( of which 17.6 is fixed). I'm not complaining and this money is a lot for most people. But it's not even close to what my juniors after 2 batches earn. The only upside in my job is no pressure and can work remotely most days. What should I do ? Shall I learn AI/ML and move to an Individual Contributor role ? How to get shortlisted for these after prep? Any advice or leads would be helpful, TIA.

Don't loose your confident try to learn whatever your designation is demanding, have faith in yourself give time to yourself figure out the area you are lagging behind if you found interest with AI/ML then do it ,if you feel it as boring or something try to learn with fun enjoy the process .start with basics Hope this helps you All the best!

I completely understand you mate and I was in same position as you are 2 months back with most of things being same like your work situation etc . In my case I fixed that by doing following things one at a time. Since I know about optum through my batchmates here is what I will do First optum will not set you in your career path . You have to accept this and decide to take action to fix this. Second once this decision has been internalized then comes the important part resume.make your resume suitable to particular roles and match it with jd dont be very honest. Remember how we use to create our resume in summers, Use chat gpt wisely. Have atleast 2 resume one for program and another for product. This gave me results. I literally saved 3 months of slog and ton of rejection. Now third,if you use instahyre or linkedin then you have to ping the hiring person most times people atleast will open your resume. That is one foot into interview. Then it's interview which I believe you will nail it

Try switching to another tech consultant role or management role. Keep soving that MBA degree in people's face to get some manager post interviews. ML/AI doesn't make sense after mba not to mention it's a scam.

The first thing is resume. Tailor your resume accordingly for whichever role you would like to apply. Try BA or APM roles. You can apply for startups I think, even for big companies. But have to do a lot of networking and reach out to people on LinkedIn. That works. AI/ML can be learnt on job as well or by taking some short courses once you get an opportunity. Or if you are really keen on the ai/ml side, start reading the concepts and add it to your resume. This process might be daunting but it ll definitely work with consistency.
