Its not a bug its a feature.

They don't change the OTP so that you memorize it over time. There's a very low chance of getting a repeat bike captain and the bike captain remembering your OTP from a previous ride. So low chances of fraud. Not foolproof, but the downside is limited.

But some of the people might have the same otp, right?

MagicalMarshmallow
MagicalMarshmallow

Sure. But what are the odds of these people being in the same location at the same time? What's the risk that you foresee?

Actually my first four digits But that steals the concept of password right? What if somebody with same starting digits takes my ride?

MagicalQuokka
MagicalQuokka

They have your numbers in their database. People with the same first 4 digits in the same location probably won't have the same OTP.

DerpyCupcake

Why did they not just go with the approach of assigning random otps, like other companies do?

Last week, my father fell victim to ₹85,000 in unauthorized Flipkart purchases on his Axis Bank credit card. No OTP, no shared details. The money vanished.

Axis Bank's response? "File a dispute. Wait 90 days. Pay your bill meanwhile."...
