Scaler lays off 20-25% of their workforce
Edtech layoffs still continuing? Teams were asked to strictly work from home for today because of plumbing work going on in the office. Roughly 300 people were laid off in a townhall hosted by the founders.

How will they tell people that their courses will help get a job in a product company now?

Ah damn that is big
Scaler was truly one of the promising Edtech plays, I know there have been negative sentiments, but believe me they’re much better than Byjus and Unacademy
Sad to see another one…

You don't know the insides you only can see the outside of any org.
They spent more money on YouTube ads than making the company a better place. Now they will hire some more random actors to do their ads instead of teaching staff 😂.

Sad sad sad! One ed tech that was going unconventional and seemed to still have a clarity on what they wanted. Man down. 😕

I am one of employee effected with this layoff today morning. Just like any other day I tried to log in to slack and gmail but unable to do so and my colleague informed me that my slack is deactivated but then after few hours they have clearly informed me on a meet that I am laid off this is not because of my performance more like an issue with the company's financial situation and severance will be paid. End of the day its a sad thing for any employee to go through which will make them question their self worth. But they gave me closure instead of leaving me hanging for confirmation😕

Sad 😔 such sudden downfall of tech profession, the seller of dreams itself is in doldrums
Shit. Shit. Shit.
I confirmed this, this is fr.
And scaler has employees, but mostly sales & biz people.
And they laid off great peeps. This is scary shit.
I remember somebody posted how Scaler is not doing good, and is toxic. Maybe they saw something?
Bro they laid off higher level people as well.
The founder gyaani on twitter didnt have the balls to fire in person? No wonder.

@shpinq How will people now learn multithreading concepts and system design 😂 and what about the free masterclasses 😕
I believe Edtech will see more such instances unfortunately in the near future. 99% ed-techs bloated themselves during the COVID period. This is not specific to ed-techs many other companies also did the same. These companies will let their staff go to control the bloating.
So, they're saying Laying off people is the plumbing work they had to do in office. 😒😒

Too much shit
It’s probably a victim of collateral damage. There is no funding in EdTech currently and they hired engineers and instructors at very high salaries when there was. Just not sustainable anymore.
I like the founder and some of the absolute amazing engineering talent they have like Naman Bhalla. I hope they survive🤞🏻

non-Scaling behaviour
Feel really sad for the employees.
But for peope saying Scaler isn't like other Edtechs, from my personal experience, it is the same. Their salespeople sell a lot of lies to convince you for the admisssion, which is one of the major reasons that Byjus became infamous for. They're probably also given insane sales targets which wouldn't be possible if they're being honest.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
