Any opinions about if one should invest in NPS or not.

Consider investing in NPS and taking the tax benefit (however locking money until 60 atleast) vs investing in mutual funds.

Please share your thoughts if its worth the tax benefit.

I would say, it entirely depends on you.
Think about yourself and the money you would be putting in, let's say 50k for the 80ccd2,
Think on these questions - do you have better use for that 50k pre tax than putting it in NPS? Do you want a retirement corpus? Do you think you can generate more wealth if you didn't opt for NPS?

Based on these questions, you can figure out if it's required for you or not

I know all these bro, i already have done that analysis, but that can be sure shot, it has lot of assumptions, etc. That's why i am asking about public opinion.

This is specific to your life and goals, how would public opinion help?

If your employer is offering Corporate NPS. You should! 30% pre tax will go to NPS.

I know this, and my employer is giving NPS benefit, my only concern was that is it worth to lock the money until 60?

It would be foolish not to. Exploit Tax free money.

We are too young unless u r not. Plan is to start at 35... 60 is way too much into the future, you will need that money.

Besides, with New Regime will the tax carrot still hold true for NPS?

The new tax regime only allows for exception of employer's contribution part, not 50k of own contribution.

They have recently introduced the option to withdraw partially if needed (in some scenarios like PF): https://www.npstrust.org.in/partial-withdrawal#:~:text=Frequency%20and%20Limits%20of%20Partial,by%20your%20employer%2C%20if%20any.

If locking it completely till 60 was your only concern then it's maybe solved already.
