I’m a guy, I’ve daughter, I can’t compensate that experience with anything else in world. It’s already difficult to find a purpose in this busy IT life, I believe at least one kid adds purpose to life and gives different perspective you perceive things.

That’s a great way to look at it.

But why do you a need kid to find purpose in life? I don’t get this. Are we having kids to find just purpose ? Or to follow society norms like a mindless zombie?

People who are regretting, tell us why

Even people in poverty will not regret having kids.

There are only two people who regret -

  1. When adults I'll treat thier parents , out of frustration they may say such things and. Then regret saying it.
  2. Mentally retarded idiots who think they could follow their passion for travelling, will regret having kids.

Apparently. I met someone who said this, and was shocked. Was wondering if there are more such.

Why not? Those who came under family or societal pressure would regret it .

My daughter is the best thing that ever happened to me in this lifetime. Those who never experienced their kids love and spent enough time with them , will not understand what it means.

I love my son to the core. He’s the best gift I’ve ever had in my life. Spending time with him takes all my worries away.
The moment I come home tired from office, and he comes running saying “papa”… with those innocent eyes and happy look takes all my tiredness away.

We spend a lot of time building stuff with Lego bricks, and those specific magnetic blocks. That’s way better than spending time on TV or movies.

I am not sure how life would have turned if we didn’t have a kid. But, we are happy with our kid. Not giving anything away for him.

That’s cute. By what you said, your son is young. What happens in say 10 years? Things won’t be the same.

I can’t believe not having kids when I grow up. It’s nice to have someone carrying your genetic lineage.

TwirlyMochi
TwirlyMochi

Is that the only motivation to have kids?

WobblyNugget
WobblyNugget

Carry your genetic lineage? What are you? Alexander the great? Your kingdom will collapse without an heir? What's there in your genetic makeup that humanity so desperately needs? This is the stupidest argument in favour of having kids and the biggest contributor to overpopulation

I am that kid who regrets being born, dad has bi polar. Mom had me when she was 23. I didn't get married and don't want to have kids as I don't want to pass on my messed up genes, not put the kid through what I went through

I dont like kids. Dont enjoy spending time with them. Why bring life into world where most.of them are suffering.

In general, I feel parents like kids because they have so much stress around and when they get home they feel nice and motivated. Also some parents just like to achieve somethings via their kids.

TwirlyMochi

That puts huge pressure on their kids

I have reached 35 and married for 3 yrs and in 2023 i got to know we can't have kids.

I regret lots of things like delaying marriage mostly because i always wanted to have kids but was looking for stability and now i have all but i miss the purpose.

Yeah so my takeaway has been that life doesn't wait, it has it's own plans for some people at least and at the end we are here to reproduce so think if you don't want kids, totally fine but if you do, it's not that you are left with classist schools that you're afraid that you won't be able to afford there are schools which will always be in your budget and the irony is that there is lot more that you would miss on when you don't have kids, this is just my view.

Any DINK couples in their 40s? How do you really feel?

Dual Income and No Kids sounds very attractive but advice from people in their late 20s and 30s is probably too biased to be considered sound advice.

Wanted to understand how couples who took that decision in their 30s feel today.
