Business Intelligence vs Product Manager

About six months back I reached out to someone who connected me with hiring manager (BU head) who after speaking with me and my interest in product manager rolled me an offer and I joined the startup at PM. From past 3-4 months I have been working on a BI/Data project which is quite fun and I have been enjoying the project. Today he asked me if i want to do data stuff since I am enjoying and liking the role.

The caveat is I’ll probably have to change my designation from Product Manager to Business Intelligence Team.

Wanted to know your thoughts on it and whether to make this change?

Don't go for titles. if u really enjoy BI, just go ahead and level up on the same. You can always shift to product management later, and BI skillset will enable you to be a better PM.

One of my friend who works at Walmart as a pm had the same problem: he continued doing pming simply because of higher pay and more opportunities at the top.

He still enjoys data work, and mostly gets to work on projects which are data heavy.

Spends most of his time writing Python scripts and analyzing efficiency of warehouses.
