CCPA Directs Ola Cabs to Improve Refund Options and Invoicing

• The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed Ola Cabs to implement a mechanism allowing consumers to choose their preferred refund method.
• Currently, Ola issues vouchers for refunds, compelling customers to use their services again.
• Ola has also been asked to provide an invoice for all auto rides, following findings of non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
• This is the first time the CCPA has issued a directive against Ola Cabs, which has been under scrutiny for some time.
• The CCPA is also reviewing complaints related to charging cancellation fees.
