Deciding Between Two Job Offers – Seeking Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m currently deciding between two job offers from Virtusa and Cognizant, both offering a similar package (around 27 LPA). I’d love some advice from the community on a few key factors to consider before making my choice. If you have experience with either company or have faced a similar decision, I’d really appreciate your insights.

Purely speaking on the compensation, the one with post Lead Soft engg is better because of taxation. Havent calculated it yet but I see more PF getting deducted from salary. Which means less taxable income. Around 40K difference in both the taxable income from PF alone. Then the Food coupons are maxed out with 2200 not 1100 like some firms. Also basic pay is higher so your leave encashment will give you more amount when leaving. So calculate your taxes in both firms first

This is an excellent point to consider while you make the final decision.

I have 2 years of experience at cognizant, I can say for senior folks like you, cognizant is quite good. WFO is also not that strict for them, 2 days can be enough depending on the client. No idea about virtusa.

Virtusa is good if you're good at what you do. For Variable Pay, ask them to give the lowest possible, they can make it as low as 1L I guess, I'm sure they can make it 5% VP itself. And Variable pays are anyhow paid yearly at 100% of what is promised. Your annual hike might be delayed, or be lower % unlike other PBCs, but still a better / best SBC.

What post are you getting here in CTS, senior associate? It's good but better compare in hand salary.

You need to have a discussion with the HR on how much you’ll actually get per month. From my understanding the variable component is dependent on your performance and can be almost counted as 0 for the first year or so. There are some blogs and videos on understanding each component please spend time analysing the offer letter and the package offer carefully.
