Reliance's Viacom18 to acquire Disney's StarIndia through a Share swap deal worth $8bn
This seems to be happening finally?
Guys, a doubt. If Reliance takes 60% of Disney India operations , how does that work? I mean do they now have a common platform (does jiocinema and hotstar get merged?) Does all the rights acquired by Disney India get transferred to Viacom?
Reliance will own 50% in Star India and Bodhi Tree Investments (James Murdoch/Uday Shankar). Together they will hold 60% in Star India and Disney will hold the other 40%. So as of now the assets in Star India such as Hotstar and IP library aren’t going to get merged with anything in Reliance or rebranded.
Purchased to drive into the ground. Look at what they did with Dunzo
Sadly Hotstar was fantastic with great concurrent streaming capabilities, which Jio will use, and then start playing ads every 10 mins. Fuck our future

Build vs Buy.
Looks like @Jiocinema is starting with replacing @hotstar in the Indian OTT market.
Opinions?
