Doctor exploring roles in tech

Hello everyone,

I hope this post finds you all well. I am a clinical microbiologist with a strong interest in technology and its potential to transform healthcare. While I do not have a background in programming, I have a basic understanding of coding and have dabbled in HTML as a teenager (it's a markup language, I know 😄) and Python in the past.

After spending many years in medicine, I am looking to explore if I can create any value in the tech industry, specifically in the field of health tech. I am reaching out to this community for any help or guidance that you can provide me with like who to connect with or what jobs would be a good fit.

I am particularly interested in connecting with individuals who have successfully made the transition from medicine to technology or who are working in health tech roles. Any advice or insights you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and I look forward to hearing from you.

You can explore InsureTech companies as they are always looking for folks with medical background to bolster their underwriting processes

Don't want to work for insurance. Looking at how health insurance in USA has made denying care their main thing, Indian insurance will sooner or later go the same way. I will never be able to hurt a patients intrest. And I don't want to contribute even a miniscule bit to this.

Hmm, I don't have a very strong view on this but I thought Insurance coverage in India is so low that affordability and access is the main problem to solve for next 2 decades, way before this becomes a big issue. But whatever rocks your boat man. On the other end I am sure there are big hospital chains like Apollo who are trying to digitise all their services. Maybe that's something to explore...
