Epfo website sucks

Hey Grapeviners

Were you able to use the EPFO(unified portal) website in one go anytime? I have been trying to login and change my password(as it says password has expired) for a month, it's not working. Sometimes otp expires before the enter otp page loads, sometimes aadhar otp is not sent or sometimes it doesn't even load the homepage.

Curious to know in a country like India, where there is so much innovation why are government websites not even at the standard of the 2000s era? How can we as a citizen improve these things?

Thoughts?

I am also afraid whether I will be able to withdraw my own money ever or not

This is a very serious issue. The government should actually pay attention to this. We should raise our voice.

During my last stints, whenever i used to leave an org, I used to withdraw the full PF amount. Doesn’t matter if taxes are applicable.

Hi can you please tell me when should we apply for PF withdrawal, if we are leaving current company we will joining next company without any breaks that was the case for me...so when should I apply for full withdrawal?

Ideally, when you are leaving, you should apply then itself. So that if employer check is needed, that can be fulfilled.

The best thing to do is transfer money from one PF account to the latest one.

Each of your employers will create separate PF accounts. In such a scenario, pls go ahead with transfer of PF funds to the latest employer. Why do that? - So that PF money is only in one account for better tracking.

You can let the current employer to do the verification, which would be done easily.

If you ever have to use a government website, use it before anyone starts working, i.e., at 6-7 am.

No one can change anything. These websites are built to increase the friction so that people can’t access their money.

The EPFO has huge amounts with them.

During our working period, govt. charges taxes and during our retirement, gives the worst treatment in withdrawing our own PF funds.

They know it’s a problem but they will never ever resolve it.

Whatever you do.

My wife works in HR, and this is what I got to know from her.
The EPFO has log it pending tickets. Even if there is a small mistake of a missing alphabet or an alphabet extra in details, your PF claim will be rejected.

And here’s the funny part, most of the times the problem is at their end where someone manually enters data wrong.

There are people who have been fighting for their PF for the past 10 years and yet to receive it.

These are people ranging from grade I workers to GM level folks.

P.S. Ny wife works with a PSU.
