And at work + the endless chase for the mirage that is wlb + if anything isn't per their expectation, its toxic
From a GenZ. AMA!
I'll be happy to answer any questions about GenZ!
GenZ are the most diverse generation (accelerated by growing up with the internet since we were 4 years old) and you cannot generalise by saying 'this is genz' because no matter what, not even 30% of us are similar.
Yes, we run after validation on Instagram. And yes it's unhealthy. But it's not fair to single us out. Older generations have also been obsessed with TV News, FB and Twitter. No need to deny, we all know.
GenZ also more openly talks about mental health and we call out things which the older generations just accepted as 'aisa hi hota hai'. Think Gender Inclusivity, Harmful Climate Practices, Running after only Salary, Marriage and Kids, Jobs where you're not treated with Basic Human Dignity, Shitty Mental Health, etc.
We're conscious about prioritising our mental health, even though it's tougher for us than ever before, so we're sorry if our calling things 'toxic' annoys you a little.
We're all extremely concerned about Climate Change because we know we're the last generation which can fix this.
Urban GenZ are perhaps the first true consumer class of Modern India. Their parents have enough resources to take care of themselves and don’t need immediate financial support.
At the same time however they aren’t rich enough and have been bombarded by constant recessions. Millennials are far better off and have become prosperous off of the tech boom.
I’m also GenZ (batch of 22). So tell me, what are you consuming?
Millennials have not become prosperous off the tech boom. Not even urban millennials. They're being able to make ends meet, but aren't prosperous. Cost of living is extremely high.
And I'll be happy to answer questions about my consumption if you could be more specific.
Curious to know if you have any data to back that. Before 2000 most if not all placements from IITs/IIMs were in companies abroad. Since the early 2010s loads of high paying consulting, banking, tech jobs have popped up in India where some professionals are now pulling in crores (this was impossible before if you didn’t run your own business). I feel the white collar class has properly formed over the last 15 years give or take in India.
I was generally asking about what trends you have seen with GenZ in terms of consumption since your seem like a founder focused on this TG.
I am human and whenever I see things like this, all I can think, is OSHO. Everyone, today, is OSHO in themselves, won't you agree? OSHO -being a self proclaimed greatest philosophical being. He who doesn't care what others have to say, doesn't listen to logical reasoning, ......
And I think it's okay and really a good thing that you stand by what you believe and prove when needed. But the real challenges come when the OSHO population increases over time.
Sometimes I act like one. Do you? As of now with this post.
GenZ never proclaim to be the highest philosophical being. We're just really passionate about what we believe in and we ferociously stand up for it.
In fact, in my post I tried to emphasize that while GenZ are different from other generations, we're basically an evolved version of the patterns of the past generations.
And as far as logic & reasoning go - I'd like to hear how many of humans were ever completely rational when they were our age (or even now)
I am a 2002 batch, I understand we're just different and have our impeccable differences from others in a lot of things. I am not complaining and am happy, proud genZ.
Woke generation, IG generation, and other tags shows how diverse the GenZ generation are despite the same birth year. Won't you agree?
TBH, even great researchers, who put labels, haven't figured genZ represent diversification more than all other generations combined.
I'm a genz and I don't resonate a bit with what OP says. I guess this is what makes me genz
