Hike while switching companies

How much of a hike should one expect while switching roles (for a PM role)

I have started giving interviews and the expected CTC i had mentioned was with a 40% hike. Nope, i have received my appraisal in the range of 15%, due to good performance. Should I revise my expected CTC? How does this usually work?

Try finding the average salary paid for the job role at a given company. Try not to go via %age hike route over your CTC. You may sell yourself short. Also, if you are already being paid above market rate in your current company then don't hope too much hike.

As for your increment in current company, it really doesn't matter. It is all about where you stand in overall market. At present if you are underpaid, you should get more than 40%, if overpaid then don't hope for anything.

Given the market conditions, it's really difficult. If it was a year ago, I would have said I'm at the lower end.

Now, I think I'm at an industry avg and the 40% would definitely put me on the higher end.

In that case, 40% is good enough number. Hopefully, it aligns with HR and budget reserved for the role
