Managing older employees in your team
As a young 22-23 year old working as area sales manager (ASM) how do you handle older employees who’re not ready to accept you as a manager?
just saw the viral post from the Gojek guy about managing early success. I could relate a lot and I really wanted to talk about another thing that comes along with it: having to hire and manage people with more experience, who are much older than you. No matter how you slice it, it’s always tricky TBH. And I have to fight ageism every single time I’m hiring. I always have this thought in the back of my head.. “If they’re still at this level at their age, are they any good?” I honestly don’t understand or know the best way to figure this out. It just feels like something is off. What has your exp been like with this?
