How to Learn Swimming

Hey Folks

I am scared of water(Beaches,Lakes....), I haven't learned swimming since my childhood, I have extreme Water Phobia - I wanted to come out of it.

Planning to take a cult play pass - will the trainers in cult teach us swimming or should we pay any extra fee other than membership

Any alternative options to learn swimming 🥽

I learnt it at a BMC swimming pool near me. Cost around 10k for the year. It’s been 5 years since. This year I swam 3Km in the sea. It’s probably nothing compared to the iron man’s and ocean man’s but shoot your question.

Also I wasn’t afraid of water. I learnt it in 20-25 days. My dad took 4 months to learn and my sister 2 months. And that’s completely fine.

There are videos online about everything swimming. Even in the first 20-25 days I used to refer to a lot of content online because trainers can’t teach you everything. There are videos to reduce the fear of depth too, but I don’t know how effective they are. You would need to be curious about your fear, which I think you have already started to be.

Same case. Phobia. Tried Cult Play. They do teach nicely, anyway not many people go for Swimming so not much crowded either. They focus well.

Negative Experience
One trainer taught me how to backfloat. I was extremely skeptical since you can't even see what's happening. He holded me & left in middle, suddenly I realized and lost my balance & he didn't even came to save me. Somebody else did, instead he even shouted for not doing it correctly.
That was the last time I went to learn swimming.

Your mileage might differ.

The very first time I went in, the moving water, the sound, touch. It was scary. I felt dizzy & drowing for some moments - but they helped to overcome that phobia & taught nicely - until the above experience

No need to pay extra. They will teach you starting from basics. Just to be easy, try to go like early hours in the morning.
