How to plan investment?

I wanted to start my investment journey. I saw some posts which have reached 1 cr+ worth with hard work and discipline. Need help to understand where to invest which MF or stocks basket. How to decide how much to invest?

Large mid or small?
Start with Nifty 50 or nifty next 50 index funds from zerodha, navi, edelweiss, motilal as they are low cost index funds available.
How much to invest? Whatever is left after your monthly expense, just invest. Only thing is how much to invest where. So if you are just starting, with zero saving. May be start with keeping 50% of saved money into FD, and other 50% into Equity (stocks/MF). After you have accumulated enough in FD (foreseeable expenses of next 1-2 yrs), then you can start putting entire saved amount in stock market.
And how much should I put in FD?
