From the past few days I am in a great dilemma and I need some advice from the great folks here.
So a little bit of background about me, I'm a recent BBA graduate from Amity University. I live in Ranchi, Jharkhand and due to which we didn't have any placements. Not a single company (for business department) visited the campus. We only had some companies through our portal hiring for sales and business development role only.
I have been a multi-tasker, during my college I did a lot of freelance work and internships as well with brands like Snapchat, Paytm etc.
"Sounds great, so what's the problem?" —the problem is the kind of work I did. For paytm, I was doing influencer marketing (basically I was just contacting people on Instagram and maintaining a Google sheets. Nothing else) For Snapchat I was making AR filters which was like a student program made in collaboration with Under 25 Universe. Not quite an internship at Snapchat but the certificate and letter of recommendation is signed by Snapchat India.
My key skills are Graphic designing & UI/UX. But what I choose to work on is the best part. Product Management.
I thought this was such a smart choice at the time. I learnt about it, took an online course, studied hard and made a great portfolio with Product related projects. I mean what could go wrong, my dream job (10LPA+) is awaiting on the next end.
Right?
.
.
Right? (Every JD for product manager requires atleast 5+ YOE)
.

.
.
Right? (Ok, Applies to 100+ APM jobs on LinkedIn instead)

.
.
Right? (Ok, in India, APM is not an entry level job. Let's go for internships)

Right? (Applied to 50+ Product internships again)
(Dafaq, why do internships need experience)

Right? (Why am I not getting calls, I'm not that bad right?)

Yup so that's about it.
So I did some more research. Tried to send email to recruiters, tried making ATS Friendly resume, tried to even change my location to Bengaluru thinking "might be a location issue cause who would hire a product intern from Ranchi?".
Got the experience of the job market in 2024.
Now what? I'm convinced that my only chance at getting a job (related to product roles) is through MBA. Because LinkedIn applications are like shit, nobody checks. Same job is being re-posted for 3 months.
CONVINCE ME HOW CAN YOU NOT FILL AN INTERN POSITION FOR 3 MONTHS??
However the fact is, I don't want to do MBA, firstly because of the useless filtering method of going through an Entrance exam. I'm not a book worm nor a mathematic wizard, I'm a commerce student. I wanted to do MBA after I get 2-5 YOE and then do it from a good MBA college. The only chance that I have is at private MBA shitty colleges.
I don't wanna do MBA from those colleges, But I can't get a job either. What should I do??
I want to know from folks in corporate and PM folks to guide me, what should I do. What are the alternative job positions that I should look for (which is entry level). Also is there someone who can refer me to their company???
Please help me out 🙏
