India's 1st Unicorn in 2024
Krutrim has become a unicorn after securing $50m in funding, making it the first Indian AI startup with a valuation of $1bn. It seems like an extremely overvalued company being built yet again. Thoughts?

Got to give it to the man. Saw him at Araku a while back and he sure has the suave and intellect to sell a vision+build in a country where it is nearly impossible to innovate and compete at a global scale
Did you talk to him? What about him led you to this conclusion?
You sure man? He never seemed like the charmer to me
Been working on using and fine-tuning LLMs for last 6 months... trust me you don't have a moat if USP of your LLM is better regionality ... a couple of teens with access to reasonable compute and vast amount of regional scrapped data is one huggingface SFT/DPO notebook away to make this product obsolete.
I'm personally really skeptikal about this unicorn.
Fully agree. A llm is as good as the datasets its trained on. What makes them so resourceful about regional data that we don't have access to?
most likely customer service or driver interaction logs from ola's other products. collected along 5 to 6yrs ...that can give one a headstart but that's certainly isn't their moat.
https://olakrutrim.com/ for sure overhyped
Sad state of Indian Edtech. Next would be Unacademy.
First unicorn of 2024 ?
I mean how does this guy do it? He literally has half baked products that are just a copy of products innovated outside India. All the horseshit talk these founders do about innovation.
