Jobs for MBA freshers in startups
Hi everyone, I'm working in a pre-sales role at IBM. I completed MBA in 2023 and I feel that IBM is bit slow and bureacratic. I was hoping I would be able to switch to a startup. But I have a few questions -
-
Do startups pay well for MBA based roles too or is it only the dev team that get paid well? My comp at IBM is 25 LPA and I would like to be within similar range.
-
How do you find primarily about jobs in startups? Is LinkedIn the best source or are there other more effective methods to know about openings?
-
Do startups hire MBA folks with ~1 years of experience in MNCs or do they primarily look for fresh out of college people only? Is profile switch possible (i.e. from sales to finance/operations/supply chain etc)

Startups do value MBA graduates, but remember, it's not just about the degree but the skills you bring. Yes, they do pay well, but it's often a mix of salary and equity. LinkedIn, AngelList, and networking events are good sources for startup jobs. Startups appreciate diverse experience, so a switch in your profile is possible. However, be prepared for a dynamic environment. It's not for everyone, but if you're adaptable, it can be a rewarding experience.
