Layoff! Idk what to do next!

I've been working in a company for 6 months. I took a day off (informing my HR) Yesterday I got a call from my HR, discussing what the management has recently discussed about me. She told me that they have decided to terminate me, she didn't state the reason. When I asked she told me it was due to poor performance, which felt totally made-up, I told her I'll dial her back in few more minutes. (Note that I was the TL of my team and I made sure my team was active) On the second dial when I asked her the reason she was silent and she started stammering. I asked if it was due to "poor performance" or was it "planned action?"

She was silent!!!

This is where she started asking her where did I go wrong? She had no answer too! "Management cameup with this decision", I asked my HR why didn't they inform me a week before, or why didn't they send me a warning! She knew it today by morning!

3 days before this incident they recruited a video editor in my team, so there are 2 video editor and 2 content writer. But, now it's just 2 video editor and 1 content writer (my work partner), she has 1 year experience in writing, and I have 2 years of experience! There's no one to guide her on what to do next! You may think my manager or someone could possibly guide her, but no!!! My manager has 0 knowledge on what we are doing right now!

I went to the company to submit my laptop, I met the two HR's and they told the story from their part! I couldn't blame them! In the end I explained them my record here, and when I met them they never said it was due to performance, they pointed if I spoke with the Manager! And guess what when I spoke to him, he acted as if he never knew I was getting terminated, he gave a "ohhh, is it!!!?" kindof reaction! When asked about the relieving letter, he said to contact HR! And he walked away as if nothing has happened!

Possible reasons for layoff:

  1. The company that I worked in was mainly a home-service based company which additionally covers several services like event management, makeup, etc!! During Dr Moutmitha's demise they asked me to make a content on her! Just imagine how can I use her name to get more views? I mean that's totally a wrong thing to get views. ( If I'm writing about the death of Moumitha, and if i spread a social message on my personal feed it is different) But using her as a bait to get views, that's sick. That too how can a home service company write something about Moumitha's updates! I mean that's totally bad! I couldn't tell them directly to their face like what they were doing was the wrong thing! So I told them, it could get out website a strike!! (However they were greedy to get views for that, maybe they were dissatisfied for that)

  2. Web stories - Usually we see this in our discover feed! As I've discussed already, our company was a home-based service company! But I can't sulk contents about home and home-based stuffs, cause the truth is less percentage of the people are interested to view something like that. My ex-colleague initiated the concept of webstory in our company. They like it, and initially the stories we write covered all niche such as entertainment/tech and everything that's general. Aug 17 the CEO told me not to put any content related to tech or Others, but focus on home and other services (But its a cheap way for marketing) So I told her "I can work on it, but I'm informing in advanced that this may affect the ctr (click through rate). After 10 days she slammed at me and my colleague! Asking what's the reason the views went down. I told her the possible reasons and I made her remember the rule she passed. She said "No man! I didn't say something like that!! No! Not at all!"

I wasn't well the day, I took half day off and the next day I got a call where my HR spoke about the termination, which I later found it was a lay-off!

I need help. What should I do next? I'm not depressed, I'm just confused!

I hope you have some savings to tide you through while you look for another job... I would say you dodged a bullet and the trash took itself away from you. There's no wrongful termination precedence in this country sadly, and 6 months isn't a long time in a company but I can understand the indignation. Have faith in your skills and know that it will take you places.

Thank you so much. I rely on my skills, any job that I get from now on will be a good one, compared to this trash.
