Meditation Can Backfire, Worsening Mental Health Problems

  • Mindfulness, a Buddhist-based meditation, is often seen as a perfect solution for stress and mental health issues, but it can have adverse effects.
  • Research shows that over 10% of regular meditators experience significant negative impacts on their mental health, including anxiety, depression, and psychosis.
  • Adverse effects can occur even in people without prior mental health issues and can lead to long-lasting symptoms.
  • Despite evidence of these risks, mindfulness coaches and resources rarely warn about potential negative outcomes.
  • Ethical concerns arise about promoting mindfulness without mentioning its adverse effects, and more research is needed to understand how to practice it safely.

Mediation is only for people who are already at peace. Not for the stressed out person. My theory, - if the pot is hot, remove the fire, do pour water into the pot. If one is stressed, attack the reason for the stress. Thats how you reduce the stress.

if your manger is shitty, change jobs, Dont like your job, upskill and change your role. Dont like your married life, get a divorce, dont like being single, get married. Sitting in a corner is not going to solve anything.
