imagine 18 years in microsoft, i would have saved a lot of moni, right now i can't imagine surviving a year or two without job. So yeah maybe they deserve sympathy but not exactly from pips like us if that makes sense?

When do they even hire so many to layoff in the first place. They hardly have 4-5 vacancies per year for any given role. If they keep on laying off every 6 months like this, then their employee count will go into negative LOL.

We had a brief discussion over this and it's not at all because of AI. MSFT is investing more in AI. It was a purely random basis, mostly in Security org, even managers and principal engineers are part of the layoff. Many managers were converted back to IC.

Obviously, any layoff anywhere and people just start screaming AI AI AI. It is not rocket science to understand that the AI is still in nascent stage and it still needs huge improvement that it starts leading to significant job losses
its just the beginning .. AI pace is rapid.. even faster than human births per day.. AI will eat every job.. mark my words
If everyone will be out of job then who will consume , the economics don’t work that way
