One should never be out of touch for doing hands-on things from the technical perspective

I was so relieved to not be promoted this last cycle, because I knew it would come with more managerial and less technical growth. TBH it was a bitter sweet feeling since I have already been in my existing role for over two years now. So planning to negotiate a situation where I can code 50% of the week into my next role as well at my current org.

Yeah if you can manage to have hands-on regularly then you can definitely go for managerial roles.
