Path to earn a good salary.

Hi All. I wanted to ask people who have either good salary packages, or have an idea how to get one.

What field is currently offering good packages, and what learning path would you suggest for a novice learner to earn it?

I am focussing on myself here (CS grad but not interested in intensive coding like SDev), but let this post help anyone who feels a bit unguided and cant figure out what they would do instead of their current job.

Broadly I would say there are two approaches.

  1. Market driven approach -> Find out top job domains and work hard and prepare yourself to become best in those. Generally technical people are paid more than non-technical. This is most common approach.
  2. Self driven approach (i like this more) -> Find out your strengths and weakness and move in direction of strengths . This way you will be happier but not necessarily wealthier. But this approach might have the chance of doing something big. At the end you have to decide what success is for you, and it can't be just money. You should have a purpose(some people debate this as well).
