How many of you hate MBAs and why?
I don’t think they add any value but just keep seeking credit for others work.
Lots of M7 MBA folks I know of are having ‘Stealth’ on their LinkedIn since they haven’t found a role yet and don’t want to show a gap - it’s brutal out there
@DaringTrain made a similar observation yesterday on a thread and was swarmed by people idolizing MBA. Things seem rosy from outside, but may not be for many MANY people
First of all M7 is operating in a different job market of US as compared to India. Secondly, your own company Microsoft has come to campus (IIM C) and hired a lot of folks in India, while firing people in US.
Indian job market is way better >>>>
most people in India do MBA to furnish thier resume and get a better job. As long the economy is grwoing , this is the best way. The problem starts when the economy slows down. Youtube is filled with videos showing the pathetic conditions of Chinese graduates from top university.
Will comment on this as a CA and a recent IIMA grad . As a CA , I really found very minimal value add in MBA curriculum. I could manage to be in top 10 percent of my class with minimal CP’s and minimal studies . So that tells a lot about of level of the curriculum today.
Further MBA doesn’t teach any hard skills. Today markets value skills above anything else. Very few of my non Fin batchmates remember how to properly read a balance sheet and even after completing MBA from IIMA
Of course everyone is placed but it’s high time MBA as a degree needs to reinvent itself . MBA today has become a placement agency disguised as an educational degree
Imagine spending all that money on an MBA just to end up in 'stealth' mode. Maybe it's time to get real about what these programs actually deliver.
A M7 MBA in the long run ~10yrs would still add way more value than a regular degree for most people. I mean sure you can succeed in life without giving any fucks about any degree but having a Harvard/Wharton MBA on your CV wouldn't hurt.
The quality also matters. I interviewed 3 fresh MDI graduates who were not able to tell me 7Ps. I mean really? How bloody stupid can you guys be?
Each one of them was 98+ %ile, had interned with big names like RB, AP and was unplaced post end of course.
MBA entrance needs to change else we’ll see a newspaper clip with headline- “90% Indian graduates and POST GRADS both are unemployable”
I don’t think they add any value but just keep seeking credit for others work.
I'm a pre-MBA working professional.
