PM role at Paytm

Hi, I have been offered a PM role at Paytm. My overall experience is 6 yrs with >2 yrs in Product. The CTC they are offering is 40 LPA which is a 30% hike. In current company culture and wlb is good. If anyone can suggest, Is it lower/higher than market standards and how's the culture and wlb in Paytm Product team?

A senior colleague of mine joined PayTM as Sr. PM. He quit within 2 months because extremely bad work culture and insane pressure.

Also, if you scan through multiple forums, PayTM has been consistently ranked as an organization with no wlb and too much pressure. The whole point of narrating this story is your expectation from the organisation should be clear and you should know what you are getting into.

Generally heard WLB is kind of bad at Paytm, but the hike seems good, especially in this market condition. I would go for it.

Also, try to get offers from other orgs like Walmart etc. Ask for a 60 day notice :)

Good luck!

Just to add, I have close to 30 lac in esops of which 10 is vested in current org but the esops given by Paytm is 10 lac only vested over 5 years

Good, why would you want Paytm stock options haha. It's better to get the extra cash to invest in nifty / blue chips yourself

I’m a recruiter checked on naukri. There are currently only 9 ppl showing in paytm pan india who earn 30 lac + in the 6 yr range so i guess you are an important resource for them.

There are people who are getting 30+ just because they have connections and no knowledge. Especially in Operations/Process and Business teams. AVP/VP bring their own known people and than discriminate current employees. HR department is useless no actions are taken for inappropriate behaviour. Manager abuses on call and still HR can't help because the manager has his Godfather VP.

Do these kinds of things happen in product teams also?

May I ask what you were doing before 2 years and what did you do to start a career in product

I started with an operations role, moved into category growth. There, I got a chance to work with the Product team on certain initiatives and made an internal switch to Product.

Paytm is one of the worst place to work as PM though it also depends on team and manager. I left them within a month of joining few year back.

Joined a series A startup. Can't reveal name as it will reveal my identity.😆

I know someone who joined as a pm but after only 2 months he again join same startup so take decision very wisely also 30 percent hike is not good so take a better offer and better company or pause for sometime

For me you only 2 year in vertical, it's very less as well, so whole point is if your company is good so be there, God know Paytm can also laid off- because they not doing good at all

If you are after money and have a thick skin, choose Paytm. I think company stocks are low and will rise hence you will get good returns on esops.

The problem is that a lot leaders are old school. Get ready to get micro managed.
