Product Management at Mckinsey

I nowadays see a lot of folks on LinkedIn as “Product Management at McKinsey and Company”. What are PMs doing in Management Consulting firms?

I had interviewed with McK for their product management profile. They want the person to work for multiple companies and do pm stuff - requirement gathering, stakeholder management, define roadmap, collaborate with developers, oversee gym etc.

Their customers are the traditional cos who now want to go digital. So they need PMs.

It's 80% travel oriented job, so i said no.

Clearly they are overselling the Product owner profile as a PM profile.

Having a 3rd consulting PM who is splitting their time on multiple "client" projects is not at all beneficial for a company.

My friend worked as a product owner for one of their internal products. Cannot remember specifics though.
