Sharing a recent experience that left me disappointed as a candidate — and I believe it needs to be said.
After clearing two rounds of interviews at a company, I was told they would release my offer letter. Then began the salary discussion.
They had issues with my expectations — which is absolutely fair, that’s what negotiations are for.
But what followed was not okay:
▪️ I was asked to attend a third round with HR for salary alignment ▪️ HR asked for time to "discuss with the team" — 2 weeks went by ▪️ After repeated follow-ups, I finally received a proposal ▪️ I wasn't satisfied, and they called again asking the same salary question ▪️ HR laughed at my expectations and said, “Let me get back in 2 days” ▪️ 10 more days of silence
I followed up again, and they said, “We only have one proposal.”
By this time, my patience had run out. And yes u— I lost my calm on the call (which I regret, and I apologized for). But being laughed at for your salary expectation after clearing multiple rounds is not just unprofessional — it’s disrespectful.
💡 To all companies and HRs out there: If you can’t meet someone’s salary range, simply say so. Don’t string candidates along. Don’t make them chase you for basic decency. And never tell a candidate what they “should” expect. That’s not your call.

Bro you do know right that this is an anonymous platform? Why can't you just say the company name and how much ctc you asked, it's not like people would know who you're

But the point of my post wasn't to shame or target anyone specifically, it was to highlight the kind of behavior that candidates often face silently. I chose to keep it anonymous because I wanted to raise awareness, not start a blame game.

Very normal and nothing new.

What reason do you tell if they ask you for your gap in employment
