I got an interview opportunity with Razorpay for the PM 2 role, courtesy - referral.
As it goes, I got a call from the HR and my round 1 was scheduled.
Cut to the interview time, I am waiting in the meeting link for a good 5 minutes, no one shows up.
I call the HR. In reply, she texts me on WhatsApp that they have to reschedule for an org wide P0.
After a couple of more days, after again, having reached out to the HR, they obliged and scheduled the further rounds. This time 3 rounds on 3 consecutive days, because "they want to ensure candidates have good experience".
My first round goes well. The interviewer was kind, respectful, and we had a wonderful discussion.
I proceed to the second round only with the catch that this might be a late PM 1 fit, which I was okay with. Day of the interview. The interviewer shows up late by about 10 mins.
And iterates the fact that we are short on time. The discussion didn't feel natural because of the interviewer's attempt to one-up their POV.
In every question/answer that happened, the first statement was - "in interest of time".
This was one of my worst interviews also because of my own answers. I wouldn't proceed myself to the next round either.
I was expecting to get ghosted/rejected.
A day later, my next interview was pre-scheduled, hence I reached out to the HR if the interview was happening and how was the feedback for my previous round. I got a text that my next round was on and my feedback was odd. I asked the HR for a call, where they were referring to my 1st round as reference. On telling them who my interviewer was, I got to know the feedback wasn't great but they want to go ahead with the interview scheduled.
I clarified why, to which I was told, because it is good to have more conversations and then decide.
I showed up for the interview with no one else showing up. I called the HR - no response.
I waited in the call for 20 minutes and left.
It is humiliating to say the least. Thankfully, I have been in the industry for a while to know it is not on me.
I had a bad day - agreed. I get rejected - fair but when did giving sheer dignity to candidates become a joke!?
