7yoe Sde here. We are expecting a baby in a couple of months and I've got an offer from a series A funded startup for 45L+7L equity . Currently I'm earning 30Lpa including variable pay in a product based company with good financial records , wife works in WITCH . What are the criterias to consider for evaluating the startup and the offer. Is it worth it to switch now ?
According to me these are the questions to ask:
These numbers will not matter when you have to request for leave. I strongly recommend to stay where you are if you have spent considerable time in your current role. You'll have to juggle a lot between your work, hospital visits, sometimes household chores. Existing relationships, reputation within your workspace matters a lot in these times. Even after delivery, 1 year of time is very critical too for the mother and baby that requires your support. If you are confident that the startup can provide same support as your current employer, you can switch.
I second this comment. I had a similar dilemma with opportunities coming up with pandemic time child care and pressure for wife. I reflected what my priority is, and decided that the flexibility in time provided by current role was more important. I got rewarded for that perseverance with a good hike and some preferred exposures as a gratitude from management which was desperately fighting attritions.

really good reasons not to leave current role. you will find better offers in future. early stage startups come with their own risks and wins. In this market where most things are scarce, work and uncertainty will be high.
Even if the startup answers these questions they would only paint a rosey picture. Incase, they are honest I find it hard to believe that they will do an exception for you or give you the power to change it.
If you have a good support system family to stay and take care of both and financially you guys are good over all, then if everything looks good with the startup, maybe join them.
Series A funded companies might have too much workload. I would suggest to stay for a bit in the current company and take care of your loved one.
