Technical knowledge for AI product mgmt roles

Hello grapeviners, I am from non-tech background but have experiential tech knowledge while I have worked as a PM. I want to know what technical knowledge is required to become good at AI product mgmt and how to gain it?

TIA :)

Hi. I've worked on AI products.
I have a technical background but i don't code anymore.

Start with text based

  1. How does chatgpt work
  2. What can you do with it

You'd now think, 'wait a min, that means I can do bunch of other things with this'. You sure can.

Look into AI Products, Products description writer for example. How are they built? Using LLMs.
Now what is an LLM? Which one is a good LLM? Mistral 7B.
Are there any other good LLMs? Yes, lots. Any variation which is powerful? Mixtral MOE.

Ok, now what about image to text? Yes, search llava.

What about image generation? You'd already know about mid journey and stuff. What's a good starting point to understand? Look into stable diffusion. Can I use it and control/edit/add/remove to my imagination? Yes, look into comfyUI or automatic1111. I personally use comfyUI. How do I build what I want? comfyUI workflows
But these require lot of GPU and I don't have a powerful machine? No probs, look into runpod.io. these servers can host comfyUI workflows and run. I have some images, i want the output generated to look like that, how do I "train" the AI? Look into LoRA training and IPadapter.

I would suggest the learning should be driven by questions like "how do I". Most probably the answer is, yes, you can do it. AI is the craziest shit I've been in.

Tldr:

  1. Look into LLM, stable diffusion, comfyUI

  2. YouTube tutorials. Generate amazing outputs

  3. Now you'll have ideas, build it.

  4. Think of them as Lego bricks

There are no right or wrong things because it's not a mature tech yet, and everyone's chasing it.

Goddamn i should get a really good job.
