The Art of Asking the Right Questions
The way you ask a question shapes the answer you receive. Instead of inviting a No, reframe your questions to encourage Yes, Maybe, or In the Future.
✔ Assume Agreement
❌ "Do you think this will work?" → ✅ "How do you see this working?"
❌ "Would you be open to discussing this?" → ✅ "When can we discuss this?"
✔ Encourage Future Possibilities
❌ "Will you join us?" → ✅ "When do you see yourself joining?"
❌ "Can you do this?" → ✅ "How soon can you do this?"
✔ Offer Choices Instead of Yes/No
❌ "Would you buy this?" → ✅ "Would you buy this now or consider it later?"
❌ "Is this something you’re interested in?" → ✅ "How interested are you in this?"
✔ Frame for Agreement
❌ "Is this a bad idea?" → ✅ "What part of this idea do you like most?"
❌ "Should we stop this project?" → ✅ "What changes would make this project work?"
The right question leads to better responses. How do you frame yours?
