Is it necessary to carry cash? Wouldn’t cards take you al along? Places to visit in Hanoi - the usual touristy place look expensive, scammy Any precautions or heads up

Booking tickets today!
Where did you land and travel to?
Went with friends. Landed at Hanoi flight- Indigo. Went to Ninh Binh and Halong.
Took USD in India. Converted it to VND at Hanoi.
When it ran out, withdrew from ATM.
Its a fairly regular itinerary. We booked a cab on 12go from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, stayed in dorm kind of place there.
Use cash. Eat local. Avoid Indian restaurants in Hanoi, they are nothing less than a scam. Halong Bay is awesome and so is Hoi An.
Where did you get cash from? Bookmyforex or some other? I heard ha long is very honeymoon-y. Is that true?
Got cash from the ATM at Ho Chi Minh airport. Halong Bay is a good tourist attraction. Definitely a honeymoon type destination for couples on honeymoon.
