Nokia aways had a separate telecom network equipment business. Used to be a JV with Siemens and called Nokia Siemens Networks earlier.
Was always highly profitable and was never a part of the Microsoft deal.

Nokia not only makes mobile but other electronic peripherals as well. I had one neighbor who was working as QA in Nokia and said that they were supplying some 4g or 5g related technology to Jio and Airtel that's installed in towers or network at large scale.
