Why are project managers paid less?
I am honestly just furious at the pay difference between the salary of an sde and a pm. Both work just as hard.

I could teach a 12th standard kid, how to do project management. Don’t need some Lean Six Sigma or Black Belt/Yellow belt thing 😂😂
Look at the relative difficulty, also look at the difference in the value created by the 99th percentile SDE v/s the 99th percentile Project Manager.
I can assure you 99th percentile SDE brings in more than 10x 💵 than the 99th percentile Project Manager.
Also, Project Managers are not PMs. Product Managers are.
the real question is why do they get paid at all...
What?
the concept of purely a management role is outdated. In this day and age tech staff is growing to be more and more self governing ...
The larger the hierarchy of PMs in the org, the more useless they become in their actuality... I'm sorry if it sounds harsh but that's what I've seen in my half a decade of exp. ... I would however love to hear a counter argument purely based on logic and devoid of personal bias.
Both PMs ( product and project ) are lazy unneeded bums for the most part. There’s a reason engineers don’t like them.
Haha true, maybe you don't need a Product manager, sure. But I'm sorry to say, engineers are shit empaths. And it's not your fault either, you're not best placed in the decision tree to realise the need.
If you didn’t have Project and Program guys, the engineers would just get into a loop of feature dev and nothing would ever get shipped. Sorry but I’ve seen it happen.
The self entitled attitude and the bubble sde s in this platform are at is at another level. 99th percentile is a very bad metric to compare. What does an average SDE bring to the table? There are many smarter ppl in finance and consulting compared to you guys in tech!
Hmm. Looks like you're yet to learn the concept of supply demand xD
No i do get it. But as a general trend I have seen SDEs and tech roles always get paid more than non tech roles.
They do the real thing. Non tech roles are there to assist them with their work.
I see a lot of product managers come from an engineering background. They have worked for a few years as an engineer before making the transition. I want to understand the factors that led to the to make the switch.
Also, how has that ...
Hi,

I work as a PM in a startup and was very surprised to learn from my colleagues that PMs earn lesser than engineers, sometimes by even 30-40%!!
Answer is obvious mate. And it's already in motion. Everyone knows current product management breed is a messed up ...
