Job opening/Hiring invites from VP/CxOs

Off late I've been getting emails about hiring/open positions from VPs/CXOs of various start-ups. Pretty unusual for me, since I've always interacted with HRs primarily in the initial stages. Is this the start of a new trend or is there anything else going on? Just wanted to understand the thought process behind these things

CXO Position, Right after college. Confused now !

I work at a startup and have been here for more than 7 years. I joined right after graduating from a tier 1 engineering college (one of the old IITs). I was the first team member after the founders and now hold the position of non tech CXO in the company. The startup has grown significantly, not in traditional funding terms but in actual business. I have dedicated countless days and nights to growing this company, hardly taking a single day off in the initial 4 years, and often working more than 10 hours daily. My salary has increased proportionately to what I should be paid (>65 LPA), and I also have decent ESOPs in the company, which could be worth anywhere between 2 to 4 crores depending on the valuation at which we raise funds. However, I don’t count ESOPs as real money. In the next 10 years, it's going to be a very big thing, and I am glad to be part of it. Many of my friends, who have done MBA from IIMs and worked at BCG or Bain, are craving for the position I am in. But I feel FOMO about not trying anything else in life. It's like achieving decent success on the first try. I use the word "decent" and not "crazy" because it's not crazy success. What do I want ideally? I'd like to take a 6-month break and then figure out my next steps. Maybe start something new or join another company at a leadership level. But I am too afraid of not getting the same opportunities and ending up struggling. Thus the question: Is there any agency that works specifically to help you get a job at a CXO position? How does it work? Can a non-MBA with 8 years of work experience get a CXO position at a decently big company (>300-500 crores in revenue)?

Fractional CXOs - New trend for Senior Management

Fractional executive is an experienced C-suite executive — CEO, CFO, CIO, COO, CSO, CTO, or CMO — who works less than full-time. The work arrangement might call for the fractional executive to be on the job a few hours each day or a few days each week. They often work for two or more companies at the same time. BC Moonlighting just got formalised for the senior management. 🙂

What do CXO exits in a profitable startup mean

have been seeing a lot of startup’s having multiple CXOs leaving within a short duration of them becoming profitable. Is this another cost saving measure?

My pathetic experience working for years closely with CXO in a startup

I worked in an Indian startup closely with CXO for last few years. They are pathetic in any way possible. Tech is limited to crud, that too doesn't work. The pay amongst their inner circle is in no way justifiable. For reference, I know people getting US pay remotely and that too doesn't come close to some of them. They hired a guy from a service based company with completely different tech stack and no product experience for 60lpa+ (I know this number because he drunk boasted about this once) as VP just because he was acquaintance. Now, this guy lacked basic human decency and tech skills. He didn't know things as basic as how to use git cli or how to talk to people. Every non-tech person that ever had to work with him called it quit. Even 4-5 year old employees (juniors being exploited mostly) that were there from inspection. He would ruthlessly "harass" them for his own shortcomings. The head of sales gets paid more than what their profit after margin is. They just keep on raising based on their IIT/IIM creds and connections and there's no business or problem that they are solving. Even the contracts they seem to winning is rather by pulling the strings, because the product or tech doesn't solve or do anything. Yet they're able to raise more again and again. It kinda kills me and fills me with so much rage that there are so many of them similar ones out there. I could go on and on about all the things that I had to see working here for years.
