Got notice from income tax-mismatch in form 16 and itr

Hi All, I switched to a new company last year and because of penalty clause, my joining bonus is deducted from the f&f settlement of the previous company. The issue is in my form 16 they have included it in my total earnings. Now my old employer is not correcting it. Whats the way forward? Can i correct it while filing ITR?

I got to know that i paid extra tax as I made mistake while filing my investments / leave encashment 2 yrs back. Is there a provision to recover / claim for extra tax paid before? Kindly help me 🙂

Quite curious about this because my understanding is that government is more watchful about cash credits. So would transactions like someone paying u through Wise/Brex/Paypal and the likes get recorded with expectation of us declaring it as extra income for tax ? I am not talking of inward remittance. Another example is u held some paytm gold for few years but now u sell some of it. Is it ok not to mention any of this while filing ITR? Anyone has some experience do share.

Hi folks, I am filing ITR and I find complete mismatch between the IT portal data of FD interest earning, and my Banks’ data. I checked all the forms- Form 26AS, AIS/TIS, traces portal. But none of them match with Banks’ data. What should I do? For one Bank, the interest amount is highly undervalued, and for the other Bank, it seems highly overvalued. Any quick way to find? Which should be considered the definitive record of interest earned?

Finally processed my ITR after multiple follow ups, and they have shared difference amount Let's say Tax I calculated was Rs X Tax Govt calculated Rs Y I agree with Y, and Y minus X = Rs 2660. No problem paying that But, the demand says payable amount is Rs Y But I have already paid Rs X. Why haven't they considered that? I should be paying the difference now. What to do in this situation? Have you faced similar situation?

I have filled ITR 3 days ago where in TIS the interest from Savings account showing 'x' amount but when I filled the ITR2 in other income schedule I find the savings account interest showing there 'y' ( y < x) and I still filled the ITR and pay the amount as tax on the basis of that 'y' extra amount on my income. Now what will happen in my case. Do I get a notice or get a penalty? What should I do now?

Hi all, I had joined Mphasis and just only attended virtual on boarding and left the job as they fell back on promise they made. I had not received any salary for that. Just before tax paying date, I received form 16 saying I was paid salary and had to pay tax on that. In reality I never received any money from them. I mailed to HR help desk multiple times, I never received any resolution. What should be my next step.

Got an email from payroll team that Income Tax dept. has flagged some employees ITR of our org. Seems false claims and deductions. Giving one time opportunity to rectify and re file ITR of last 3 years to avoid further action! Has this happened to you too or its just me? Suggestions? 🥺
