Assignment for interviews

Hey guys. While I know that there is this ridiculous practice of getting candidates who are applying for upper middle to top management roles to do an assignment, has anyone who has done that experienced 'being taken advantage of'. The reason I am asking is cause I have done a couple of them (putting in decent effort and feeling quite confident) and got no calls in return. What makes it even more shady is that I don't get feedback even after asking for it a couple of times. There was once when I saw the same inputs that I gave being put in practice which infuriated me. Any inputs?
