The Data for % of Tax Payers are Insane
This is known issue but as an developing nation, this needs to improved and worked upon
Top 3 Indian companies have mcap > 150B
Do you think this is really required?
Can't this money be spent on health and education??
Both combined it's nearly $ 20B.
Taxpayers money should go into capacity building of poor or infrastructure etc...not just for freebies or reveri.
Sometimes I think democracy is killing India.
Your views?
In India, everyone is a socialist. Not by choice. These schemes are a necessity.
Taking care of the absolute basic need in form of a guarantee (food security) lets people focus on thungs beyond survival. Gives them a choice.
Naturally some will abuse this choice and do nothing, but Pareto will play his part and keep pulling people in a place where they are part of a sustained economic contribution.
Sorry to say but 50% families sell these in open market and have premium staples.
You're missing the point.
Even if 20% people start economically viable contributions - thats 4 cr families that get a ₹₹ kickstart.
Ye sab bakchodi se better hai flat UBI laade, atleast slippage toh kam hoga.
Damn...UBI is the future.
AI ko prompt de k maal chapo...
Gareebon ko free me ubi do.
I am afraid, in future people will intentionally fall in bpl to get UBI and watch IPL without any work pressure.
Let me you tell me one thing,
As of current times there are agents in India who will charge you a small fee and give you a bpl card, irrespective of income level,
so where there's some gains to have people will find jugad to exploit the system, indian freebie system is soo broken that the geniune poor might be struck in paperwork and jugad junta will take the free benefits.
took the free toilet banao scheme ₹15000ish as bank transfer via help of an agent (₹500 fees), all while having a 2storey pukka makan in village
Of the marriage unemployed ba pass woman ₹1000 stipend from state govt.
Not something to be proud of but that's the point. Welfare scheme are more harm than good in their current form added with complex mess of eligibility criteria and kagaz dikhao.
Existing system is joke.
Lmao, that number is wayy higher than our education, health and military budget combined.
People are addicted to freebies and politicians have found a cheat code to exploit. This has now become a bipartisan issue too - so you're screwed no matter who you vote for in elections.
$150 B of public spending on health and education even for 1 year would've made an impact that would've lasted decades.
And since it's a bipartisan issue now, no amount of protesting (less than gargantuan all India protests) will change it. This will require a societal change.
This is so sad. Things like this make me wonder if it's better to just move abroad (not a cake walk by any means).
But again, there's so many other pros living here. It's just the way life is I suppose. I just hope someday the leaders of the nation decide to spend on education and health more than these freebies.
In India there is NO right wing party, for the uninitiated BJP isn't right wing.
Every single party, policy and ideology boils down to being socialist here. Freebies, donation and charaties might sound noble but hurts you and them in the long run.
The best thing to do with that money is spending it on education and uplifting tier2 cities buy having better connectivity to the hubs.
We have scaled employment and quality of life in metros. These have resulted in highly dense pocket areas. The next unlock has been to happen at tier2.
