2 weeks into new job got a better offer, worth switching?
Got a new job at Visa Inc. 2 weeks in, got an offer from target with 9lpa increase on base.
The TC difference is around 22% because visa is giving lot of RSU. Target is giving no stocks.
Work is good at visa. Culture and WLB looks pretty chill at visa, leadership is also nice so far. no overwork or micromanagement, supportive leaders. Product is also very good at visa. Business of visa product is better in terms of resume value also (business wise). Lot of GenAI push though.
For target tech stack is definitely better and product is also a resume standout product (Engineering wise), one of the key services in target lot's of scale as well & good engineering from initial impression.
Target got best employer this year on Blind.
shall i make the switch, ask for raise or keep mum?

Stay at visa. Shit is going to hit the fan at target given how bad their store sales are in the last few months. Also ecommerce in general hectic with fake urgency around sale days.

thanks

Am surprised you say Tech at Visa is good. Do you know the amount of process nightmare we go through here? Do you know how inter department politics lets you accomplish nothing here? I am not qualified to say you should or should not go to Target but your early impressions of Visa are plain wrong. That I can say with 100% confidence.

There is just one problem, if u abscond visa or resign (assuming they will release u early as u just joined) . How will you justify in future job application post joining target, show u worked here for a few days to month? Skip this experience altogether and pray future job bgv doesn't catch u?

If the technology and product is good at Target go to target If its better at Visa then try to ask for a raise

do you think it will make things worse for future hikes?

Yes it could and it can even leave a wrong impression on your manager that you are asking a raise as soon as you join. But try convincing them politely saying you have applied to this even before you joined visa and they responded back now. Although the offer is better you want to continue with visa as the company aligns towards your goals something like that. And agree if he says he will raise it in next appraisal if it is near by
