How your day to day work looks like as a SE in your company ?

As the title suggests I’m looking forward to a discussion around the future of SE roles in India. There isn’t a lot of information around career advancement and/or compensation metrics available. About me: I’m working at an early stage startup as an SE(not really into this but as a generalist tried doing whatever I can and currently here). have a total of 5+ YOE with 3 in pre sales at an IT major. Was the first SE here. Really enjoy the 0-1 phase and have worked in this startup for 2+ years across Customer Success and Sales. Should I look forward to growing in the SE field or try to move to Product(in the same company)….What would be better in the long run in terms of work, compensation and growth( SE, sales or product)…

(If you don't know Hutch dog, you are way too young) It can be a rewarding role only if you know how to set firm boundaries; otherwise, people gonna take advantage of you.

Razorpay probably has the most overrated engineering culture from the outsider's perspective. Everytime on Twitter there's some npc telling how Razorpay is a dream place to work at or how Razorpay engineering is the holy grail. From inside it's hilarious that someone could even think of those things. There's no learning path, especially in payments business unit for engineers who are forever stuck in ad hoc tasks. There's no long term plan, no roadmap, just PM and EMs shoving down and hocs. Even in terms of learning from peers, there are so few charters where someone works with a lead, mostly it's just slogging it out alone in an ad hoc or some bug fix. It's almost always an eternal cycle of never working in impactful projects -> never get assigned one, because there are so few -> get average reviews -> again being asked to work on "impactful projects". If anyone is under 3/4 yoe they should stay away from razorpay for their careers sake.

Post CTC, YOE, Role (mine is 45 LPA, 4 YOE, PM)

Recently I gave an interview for an sr software quality engineer. What should I ask for CTC wise not sure how much my ask should be. Round 1: selected Round 2: selected Round 3: With Hiring Manager selected HR negotiation: that's what is left. ________ I also gave an interview for serviceNow. For IC2 | SQA Round 1: Selected. Round 2: it's Tomorrow. I'm positive I can clear this as well. Any suggestions/advice about what my pay should look like is welcome. Also additionally any tips on the types of questions asked in round 2 of serviceNow are welcome. Thanks guys!

Hi everyone, I am currently working as SDE. I do my work very well and i receive accolades from manager and my team members as well. But whenever i discuss my growth ideas with manager, i always receive same feedback i.e. i need to know about the other peoples are working on which task and i need to provide feedback in design discussion call. I am bit confused. I know on very high level about the task but not very much context. And i always provides my pov in design discussion if i am aware of that particular thing. My of our team member's work doesn't overlap with each other. In that case for me it is very hard to share my pov as i don't have more context. Any suggestions how can i overcome two above problems. A lot of startups that are losing money tend to have a lot of strategy roles run by ISB/IIM folks. What do they really do? Can they really do any sales or is it just a strategy?

Can you guys help with the range of salaries and which companies are hiring for Founders office roles YoE: 3 years of corporate experience, 9 months of trying my hands at entrepreneurship. What will be a good salary for someone like me in the current environment? What are similar folks making?
